How Orthodontic Insurance Works
Drs. Wiewiora and Dunn are participating providers for several dental insurance companies. However, any insurance plan that has an out-of-network orthodontic benefit can be utilized. Orthodontic insurance works differently than any other insurance coverage. Orthodontic benefits are paid out over the time the patient is in braces until your lifetime maximum has been met. They DO NOT pay all at once. Therefore, it is important to stay with the same plan throughout the course of treatment.
There are several reasons to keep your insurance plan in effect during your entire orthodontic treatment. Most orthodontic coverage will not cover braces if they have already been applied to the teeth prior to the effective date of the policy. This would be considered pre-existing and an out-of-pocket expense.
As a courtesy, Drs. Wiewiora and Dunn will take assignment of benefits from your orthodontic insurance. What does this mean to you, the patient? By taking assignment of benefits, we can collect payment directly from your insurance company, which allows the patient's portion to be less, making monthly payments affordable.
Even for those patients that do not have insurance, there are several affordable options with which our staff would be happy to assist you. Call today for your complimentary new patient exam.

The Plans We Are On
Drs. Wiewiora and Dunn are providers of several insurance plans however; our office is always able to maximize orthodontic benefits of any insurance policy that has out-of-network benefits available.
Out-of-network would be an insurance policy that will pay orthodontic benefits to an orthodontist that is not listed as one of their providers, and allows patients to choose a doctor of their preference.
Please check your individual policies for the type of orthodontic benefits you may or may not have, whether our office is a provider or not. This information can be found in your policy book, or you may ask your employer or insurance company directly. Please keep in mind that benefits quoted over the phone are not a guarantee of benefits or payment. This is usually an estimate our office can obtain for you and it is not until the claims are submitted, and an explanation of benefits has been received, before it is confirmed and/or validated.
