New Year, New Teeth: Your Ortho Resolution!

New Year’s resolutions typically sound the same each year. You might want to shed a few pounds, travel to a foreign place, or finally plan out that new budget. While all of these resolutions are worthwhile, they don’t address the orthodontic concerns that you may have with your smile. What if your resolution for 2017 was to start orthodontic treatment and improve the health of your teeth? Here at Central Florida Smiles, our team of orthodontists can help you get the New Year off to a good start.

Do You Need Braces?

Whether you are younger or older, it’s never too late to talk to your orthodontist about possible treatment options for your teeth. Although treatment times are usually faster for children, adults have several solutions to choose from that can enhance their smiles. Braces are one of the most efficient options when it comes to straightening teeth, and your orthodontist can help you decide whether you would benefit from them. The sooner you have braces placed in 2017, the sooner your treatment will begin. Talk to your orthodontist about whether braces are the most practical measure to take for your teeth.

Many patients who come into Central Florida Smiles have questions about how braces will affect their teeth. Not only are they straightening your teeth and producing a smile that looks more appealing, but also they are improving your alignment along with malocclusions that are interfering with your oral health. Additionally, straighter teeth produce a healthier bite position that will make it easier for you to chew and speak as well as reduce any discomfort in the jaw.

What If You Have Braces Already?

If you currently have braces and still have some time left before your orthodontist removes them, then you may consider other changes you can make to benefit your smile. If you are wrapping up your treatment, what type of retainer your will be required to wear once your braces are removed? Based on the original position of your teeth, your orthodontist may recommend a Hawley, Essix or bonded retainer.

Your Orthodontist will recommend

For those who still have several months left of treatment, orthodontic resolutions still apply to you. Although your braces may not be going anywhere anytime soon, you can still make your treatment more exciting. Changing the band color on your braces gives you an outlet for creative expression and can be a fun way to set the mood for 2017. Modifying the color of your bands is as easy as asking your orthodontist to switch it up during a scheduled appointment. You can even choose between silver, gold, or clear brackets when you initially have braces placed.
