Drs. Savastano & Dunn are participating providers of several dental insurance companies. However, any insurance plan that has an out of network orthodontic benefit can be utilized. Orthodontic insurance works differently than any other insurance coverage. Orthodontic benefits are paid out over the time the patient is in braces until your lifetime maximum has been met. They DO NOT pay all at once. Therefore, it is important to stay with the same plan throughout the course of treatment.
There are several reasons to keep your insurance plan in effect during your entire orthodontic treatment. Most orthodontic coverage will not cover braces if they have already been applied to the teeth prior to the effective date of the policy. This would be considered pre-existing and an out-of-pocket expense.
As a courtesy, Drs. Savastano & Dunn will take assignment of benefits from your orthodontic insurance. What does this mean to you, the patient? By taking assignment of benefits, we can collect payment directly from your insurance company which allows the patient’s portion to be less, making monthly payments affordable.
